Russian Log / 028
What I did today:
- lots of passive listening (podcast, YouTube Let's Plays)
- vocab and grammar (textbook)
- reading (russian posts about language learning)
I worked through new grammar points, but this time I only wrote the example sentences and an short explanation into my notebook (instead of whole tables). The reason is: Such declension tables are made as a reference, not as a learning subject. By only writing down the example sentences I save lots of time!
And I can use this time to read or listen to more Russian. I enjoy watching russian Let's Plays on YouTube. I also read posts about language learning in Russian.
Summary of week 4:
I've found some more interesting resources like podcasts, audiobooks or YouTube channels. In fact, finding interesting stuff is almost more difficult than the learning itself. XD
There are more than 1700 saved words in LWT now. Another 600 words are known. Although I've read a lot it's very difficult to learn new words through reading. The amount of new words is too high. That's why I need to build a base. Learning new words in context works only well, if I understand a certain amount of the text.
I started with chapter 3 of my textbook. I hope to increase my pace a bit, because I would like to understand more than just a few little words (from the native level stuff) as soon as possible.

I’ve found my first favorite russian podcast! In contrast to some other ones, they talk very lively / emotional (instead of monotonous mumbeling into the mic). It’s very enjoyable to listen to it even though I can’t understand more than small fragments (yet).
I recognized and understood a phrase I know from my textbook while listening to a russian podcast - this was an amazing moment! :D
